Friday, January 22, 2021, 8:47 On Thursday, January 21, thousands of protesters demonstrated at approximately 100 intersections and other central locations throughout Israel, demanding that an external investigative committee be formed to examine the conduct of the Central Unit of Yehuda and Shomron Police in general and the death of Ahuvia Sandak, z”l, in a police chase in the Binyamin region on December 21, in specific. Protesters reported police brutality in several locations and tickets given for coronavirus regulations violations.

Honenu’s headquarters received reports of approximately 15 detainees in total. A detainee who was facially injured by border policemen lost consciousness at the Ariel Police Station and was evacuated by mobile intensive care ambulance to the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva. Honenu Attorneys assisted the detainees, most of whom were released after interrogation.

Hundreds of protesters demonstrated at the String Bridge in Jerusalem and intermittently blocked the entrance to the city. There were clashes with the police and three protesters were detained, two of them brutally. Additional protesters were detained at Shilat Junction, in various locations in the Shomron region and at Shilo Junction.
