Honenu: Administrative orders serve foreign interests

Sunday, March 12, 2023, 16:05 According to the Arutz 7 (INN) website, a senior official in the Israeli government intimated that the administrative detention orders served recently to two Shomron residents, an adult and a minor, following incidents in Hawara were the result of criticism from the Biden Administration and European countries. “What happened there [Hawara] is serious and we also condemned the statements [made by Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich]. We decided on administrative orders and they were served,” stated the official.

According to the official, there is no intent to accept the demand raised by 40 members of Knesset to cancel the orders: “There are those who criticize and those who set policy.”

Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar commented “This is a serious matter, and it is what we said from the beginning: The administrative orders serve foreign interests while the most fundamental human rights are being trampled. It is a disgrace that baseless demands were made of the courts. The genuine reason for the detentions has now been revealed: to placate the Biden Administration in the US.”
