Brigade Commander requests release of head of security

Wednesday, March 16, 2022, 18:00 On Wednesday, March 16, Shomron Brigade Commander Ro’i Tzveig asked the Jerusalem Magistrates Court to release the head of security of Havat Gilad, who was detained by the Central Unit of Yehuda and Shomron Police.

Shomron Brigade Commander Tzveig stated before the court that, “The respondent is a security officer. I am responsible for him. He is one of the best heads of security in terms of ethics and professionalism. Every evening he saves the lives of residents [of his community]. Additionally, the incident at hand was reported to me and to the brigade by the head of security. He reported the incident, including all of the details, and the video clips were also sent to us.” He added that he trusts the head of security.

Honenu Attorney Avichai Hajbi represented the head of security at the hearing and also demanded his release. The court rejected the police demand to extend his remand by six days and extended it by only two days. Hajbi appealed the extension with the Lod District Court.

Hajbi: “The blindness of the Department of Nationalistic Crime in the Central Unit of Yehuda and Shomron Police has broken new records. Today we learned that they have gone so far as to attribute to the suspect the same actions that they and the IDF have worked with him for years to eradicate. I am certain that in the coming days my client will be released and that the case against him will be closed.”
